As my team and I have chosen to work on the Film Task, we will eventually need to put all of our work into an editing software for the final product. So, I've installed Adobe After Effects and have started learning how to use it. I've watched a couple YouTube tutorials, and have messed around in the settings and have managed to produce this.

I was inspired by Instagram user @cackstrokes and @baphometkun, whose edits I have recently come across and really enjoyed watching. I'm nowhere near their level of skill yet, of course, but I've definitely learned something throughout the process of making this. To the right and below are examples of their work.

The photographs in the first half, featuring a hand in a darkly lit bathroom, are taken by me. After the screen goes dark and the photos reappear, these were taken from Tumblr and Google after browsing through a "liminal spaces" search. The song is HURT by 1-800-PAIN.

Here are screenshots of the timeline and settings used in After Effects.

I have a lot more to learn until I reach the level of skill I wish to achieve, but for my very first attempt at editing, I really like the final product. For the future, I want to learn how to use transitions, and perhaps tracking an object across the camera. I might possibly also use Adobe Premiere Pro, as I've heard that it's useful as well.
