Because our film opening is character oriented, the focus is on the person, and not the things surrounding him. The plot doesn’t require our protagonist to hold, nor to interact with any physical item besides things that would already be in place (e.g. cars, trees, walls, etc). This means that we don't need any pre determined and designed props, as any items that may be surrounding the protagonist will be items in nature, and things that are already there. This makes our job a lot simpler because we don't need to worry about designing and planning out realistic and relevant props, and instead we can just rely on and incorporate the things around the scene. The flashlight we’ll use to spotlight him

in the beginning and perhaps end of the film opening will be the only necessary item to bring - but, even this has the possibility of being replaced, namely by our phone's flashlights.
